East-er than I was last year

Easter Sunday finds me in the Eastern time zone for the first time in many moons. It has its pluses, compared with California. (Housing prices, less outrageous gasoline prices.) Also, Southerners get to hear the sounds of a woodpecker doing his thing on a spring morning.

Of course, I miss that weather, and Pacific time is great for football viewing. Hey, you can watch an Eastern game and still get beach time in.

But one of the most underrated attractions about California is the floral landscape. This time of year is particularly beautiful, as this LA Times story/photo package points out. (Unless I missed it, they didn’t mention the flower fields near I-5 in Carlsbad, near San Diego.) And Orange County has nice viewing, too.

(OK, Georgia ain’t bad, either. Especially as Masters week nears. Azalea fans, rejoice.)

Enjoy!
